Nabucco is an opera by Giuseppe Verdi to a libretto by T. Soler, based on events described in the Bible. (Nabucco is an abbreviated Italian interpretation of the name of King Nebuchadnezzar II). It was this opera, the third in the work of Verdi, that brought him real fame. It tells of the calamities of the Jews, their captivity by the Babylonians, and then their absolution to their homeland by King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon.
The premiere took place on March 9, 1842 at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan. The first production of the final version took place at the Teatro San Giacomo in Corfu in September 1844.

Description: In 1842, the impresario la Scala B. Merelli commissioned Verdi a new, fourth opera. The librettist was again Themistocles Solera (1815-1878), who already in his young years gained popularity with his poems, novels, librettos and even operas, one of which was staged at La Scala. In Lombards, Solera was inspired by the poem of the same name by Tommaso Grossi (1791-1853), one of the leading writers of the first half of the XIX century, who updated Italian literature. Grossi created a number of romantic poems and dramas on legendary subjects, centered on love stories, and within five years became a fashionable poet. He was called "Bellini of Italian Poetry". In 1826, Grossi's main work appeared - a large epic poem "Lombards in the First Crusade", which had an unprecedented success. It used the same plot as in the famous "Liberated Jerusalem" by Torquato Tasso, the great Italian poet of the XVI century. In fact, it was a poetic narrative about the clash of Europe with Asia, Christianity with Islam. In 1095, the Pope in the French city of Clermont called on Christians to free the Holy Sepulchre from the hands of the infidels. The following year, about 300,000 people gathered in Constantinople. Most of the Crusaders were from different regions of France, Italy was represented not by Lombardy, but by Sicily. In October 1097, the siege of Antioch, which was then under the rule of the Turks, began, and in June of the following year it was captured by Bohemond of Tarentum, one of the leaders of the First Crusade, who arrived from Sicily. Description : Ernani (Italian pronunciation: [ˈɛrnani]; Ernani is an opera by Giuseppe Verdi in the genre of drama lirico in four acts to an Italian libretto by Francesco Maria Piave, based on the tragedy "Hernani, or Spanish Honor" by Victor Hugo. The premiere took place on March 9, 1844 at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice.
In the autumn of 1843, Verdi began work on a new opera "Hernani" based on the play of the same name by Victor Hugo for the Venetian theater La Fenice. To work on the libretto, the theater recommended the composer the poet Francesco Maria Piave. Verdi was so inspired by Hugo's play that he himself drew up a plan for the opera, thought through a list of actors, and developed individual scenes. Thus, Piave's task was limited only to writing a poetic text for the libretto. The opera was created by the composer very quickly, within about a month. Verdi drew attention to Byron's play in early 1843, but when he offered the subject to the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, the play was rejected for inappropriate political content. Description: Opera in four acts to a libretto by Francesco Maria Piave with the participation of Andrea Maffei, based on Shakespeare's tragedy Macbeth.
The music was composed between 1846 and 1847. Piave's text is based on a prose translation by Carlo Rusconi, printed in Turin in 1838. The first performance of the opera took place at the Teatro della Pergola in Florence on March 14, 1847.
Almost twenty years later, the Paris Théatre Lyric invited the composer to supplement the opera with new music, but as a result, Verdi revised almost the entire score. The new version premiered on April 21, 1865. The second option is more popular from the time of its production.
The opera is quite close to the text of the play, but there are curious discrepancies. So, Shakespeare's three witches are replaced by a choir of witches with three parts of different heights. In addition, the last act opens with a gathering of rebels on the Anglo-Scottish border and ends with a chorus celebrating the victory over the tyrant who is after Shakespeare's finale.

Description : Opera in three acts by Giuseppe Verdi to a libretto by Francesco Maria Piave.
The libretto was written by Piave based on the 1849 play "The Priest, or the Gospel and the Heart" by the French playwrights Emile Souvestre and Eugène Bourgeois. The first production of the opera took place on November 16, 1850 in Trieste, at the Teatro Grande. Its duration was 110 minutes. Due to the fact that the censorship demanded to change a number of provisions of the opera, Verdi and Piave had to significantly revise this work after 7 years. Thus, after the revolutions that took place in Italy and Austria in 1848-1849 and the reaction that followed, the censorship committee showed special severity. Due to the fact that in Italy it was unthinkable to imagine a married priest, Verdi even before the premiere in 1850 had to turn his main characters, pastors Stifpelio and Jorg, into sectarian preachers. Some of the characters' replicas were also altered.

Verdi considered the plot of "Rigoletto" to be the best of all that he put to music: "There are strong situations, variety, brilliance, pathos. All events are due to the frivolous and empty character of the Duke; Rigoletto's fears, Gilda's passion, etc. create wonderful dramatic episodes." The composer interpreted hugo's images in his own way, which caused a protest from the writer. Description : The libretto was written by Francesco Maria Piave based on the play of the same name by Antonio García Gutiérrez. The title character of the opera is Simon Boccanegra, the first Doge of Genoa. The first production took place at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice on 12 March 1857. The second version, created with the participation of Arrigo Boito, was presented to the public at La Scala in Milan on March 24, 1881.
There is no doubt that the already mature Verdi's opera Simon Boccanegra was unlucky. Shown in Venice in 1857, the opera was not a success, and Verdi, together with Arrigo Boito, remade many things, and the opera was published in a new edition in 1881. Written by Francesco Maria Piave, the libretto was based on a play by Antonio García Gutiérrez, which shows romantic love against a backdrop of political struggle and intrigue. Such intricate multifaceted plots were close to Verdi, especially since the main character of the opera is a real historical person. True, the real Boccanegra itself was certainly not so romantic, seized power in Genoa by force, establishing a regime of terror, and was later killed, but Verdi endowed his hero with a courageous and romantic appearance, showing that at the pinnacle of power there is nobility and a desire for the ideal. Of course, this interpretation was seen as unrealistically romantic, but in the operatic tradition. The music of the opera is full of wondrous beauty, refinement, sharp drama, in general, this opera by Verdi is monumental, pathetic, tragic and it is not clear why this opera has such a difficult fate, because Verdi wrote music to it while in a more than mature period of creativity. Description Othello, Verdi's last tragic opera based on Shakespeare's drama of revenge and jealousy, has captivated audiences for centuries. The composer wrote the opera after a twenty-year creative pause and the death of his main musical "opponent" Richard Wagner.
In Cyprus, overcoming the storm, after the victory over the Turks, the fleet, led by the Moorish commander-in-chief Othello, returns. Only the vicious Iago is not happy about this: he wants to destroy Othello and convinces the latter that Desdemona, his young wife, is cheating on him with Cassio, who received the promotion to which Iago himself aspired. Othello goes crazy with jealousy. Frightened and innocent, Desdemona tries in vain to justify herself. Iago's betrayal achieves the end result: Othello strangles his wife in the bedroom. Iago's terrified wife (and Desdemona's maid), Emilia, reveals the truth to everyone. Iago flees, but Othello, shocked by his own actions, stabs himself and, dying, kisses the pure Desdemona one last time.

这部好处一是有中文字幕，二是比较忠实经典，不像别的乱改背景时代。
