The C9ii is a very advanced headphones amp. It benefits greatly from the very advanced amplification circuitry of the Cayin N30LE a limited release that is now completely sold out. Read the reviews of the N30LE to understand what you are getting with the C9ii. In the C9ii some of the features that couldn't be fully implemented in the N30LE due to size limitations were fully implemented in the C9II because it doesn't have a DAC section. The sound is rich, dense, natural and very detailed and extended also very dynamic, never distorting or compressing the sound during dense passages or climaxes or even very quiet passages. Make sure the rest of your systems are up to par.

I only tried this since the question was asked about portable amps that could drive the Susvara OG. I wasn’t expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised. The Cayin C9II is a true beast of a transportable amp. This actually sounded good. Not as amazing as on my main Susvara chain. But really good.

Listening to Dire Straits on ZMF Atrium open with the R8ii and the C9ii and the first impressions are; “wow, this is a powerful little amp”… It drives these headphones quite good, i am on A:H G:H T:C and Hyper… Lots of detail, imaging but its really quite smooth/warm… Yeah… I may not sell my C9 but I for sure will be using it less. (Yes, that is a little pocketlight, being half a century means the eyes are, well, less (no problems with hearing though (apart from some occasional light tinnitus)))

看来我的 C9 一代使用频率要大打折扣了…
PS:桌上放着个小手电筒…你没看错——我已经是年过半百的“老”烧友了,两眼昏花大不如从前了(好在听力依旧敏锐,除了偶发的耳鸣)。所谓"金耳朵,老花眼",说的也就是我了吧。
Gain (L) + Anode (L) + Modern + AB + NFB ON Right off the bat, the presentation is slightly more spacious with a slightly thicker bass texture. The soundstage expanded slightly, with more musicality than the X. Compared to the X, the midrange is where the magic truly happens, offering a warmer timbre that feels more organic and lifelike, more emotional. Meanwhile, the treble strikes a good balance, easy on the ears yet fairly energetic when the track asks for dynamism. The upper treble is not as prominent and sharp as the X, but it is close. I also tried to turn NFB off with this config, and I was positively surprised to find my preferred setting for the Volür. With the NFB off, the Y config sounds excellent. It is clean, expansive, and energetic. Think of X but with the added musicality and organic timbre of the tubes. It’s both organic and tonally balanced. Perfect.

高频表现同样可圈可点,很多时候耐听和延展够高是两个相悖的话题,如果一个高频延展很好,能飙升的很高,通常来说就意味着极端的不耐听——因为过于刺激了。但 C9ii 在耐听的同时,在遇到需要大动态,高延展的乐段时依然保持不错的高频延展。极高频虽不如晶体管模式那般锋芒毕露,但延伸度依然出色。
值得一提的是,我试了一下在这个组合的基础上关闭负反馈,结果意外地发现这就是推Volür的最佳组合:既保持着晶体管模式的清冽,又兼具胆机的音乐性与温润,堪称完美…
Gain (L) + Anode (N/A) + SS + Hyper + NFB OFF Tested with PWAudio 4.4mm Adapter and In solid-state mode, the Anode setting does nothing, so it’s marked N/A. Compared to Hugo 2 alone, the combo presentation is a little warmer, especially in the sub-range. The bass depth is improved, and its impact feels greater.
低增益/晶体管音色/ Hyper 模式/负反馈关闭 相较单独直接听 Chord Hugo 2,这套组合的声音更加温润。贝斯线条更加清晰可触,鼓点的冲击力明显更强。
I don't have the C9 but the C9ii for over ~5 months now and haven't regretted. The importance of the upstream source quality can't be emphasized enough AND the paring with HP and IEM. One surprise thus far is how scalable the SQ of the C9ii is. I tried the following sources: - Sony ZX707 pre out (C9ii pre mode) - WM1Z pre out (C9ii pre mode) - WM1ZM2 pre out (C9ii pre mode) - AK SE200 pre out (C9ii pre mode) - AKSP3000T pre out (C9ii pre mode) - Sony ZX707 digital out via iFi Diablo line out (C9ii amp mode) - WM1Z digital out via iFi Diablo line out (C9ii amp mode) - WM1ZM2 digital out via iFi Diablo line out (C9ii amp mode) - AK SE200 digital out via iFi Diablo line out (C9ii amp mode) - AKSP3000T digital out via iFi Diablo line out (C9ii amp mode) Paired with Senn 800OG, MRD-Z1R, Tago T3-01, YH5000SE and ZMF CC, IEMs are IER-Z1R, M9, U18t and whilst these combinations yield diff performance and SQ but the better the upstreams and pairing the better results. Say when use with "WM1Z digital out via iFi Diablo line out (C9ii amp mode)" + MDR-Z1R, the SQ comes close to my HAA Resolute!

Yesterday dug out my iFi Diablo and see how it paired with C9ii. The setup is: AK SE200 digital out --> Diablo line out --> C9ii 4.4 out --> Tago T3-01. To my surprise, this combo sounded very very good: - airy, transparent, nuanced, dense - it gives the music a life with excellent micro dynamics, texture and emotion, once again the C9ii demonstrated its scalability, the better the upstream, the C9ii just scales to higher ..
