Don Carlo) is a "grand" opera by Giuseppe Verdi in 5 acts, 7 paintings, to a libretto by Camille de Locle and Joseph Meri based on the drama of the same name by Schiller (German: Don Karlos, Infant von Spanien)[1]. However, the basis for one of the acts - a scene in Fontabbleau - was another novella on the same plot: "Philippe II, King of Spain" (Philippe II, Roi d'Espagne), authored by the French playwright Eugène Cormon.
It premiered at the Paris Opera on 11 March 1867.
The full version of the opera in five acts with ballet lasts about four hours and is Verdi's longest-running opera; during the composer's lifetime and after his death, numerous, shorter editions appeared. Outside of France, opera is usually performed in Italian in a translation by de Lozières.

The title character of the opera is Simon Boccanegra, the first Doge of Genoa. The first production took place at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice on 12 March 1857. There is no doubt that the already mature Verdi's opera Simon Boccanegra was unlucky. Shown in Venice in 1857, the opera was not a success, and Verdi, together with Arrigo Boito, remade many things, and the opera was published in a new edition in 1881. Written by Francesco Maria Piave, the libretto was based on a play by Antonio García Gutiérrez, which shows romantic love against a backdrop of political struggle and intrigue. Such intricate multifaceted plots were close to Verdi, especially since the main character of the opera is a real historical person. True, the real Boccanegra itself was certainly not so romantic, seized power in Genoa by force, establishing a regime of terror, and was later killed, but Verdi endowed his hero with a courageous and romantic appearance, showing that at the pinnacle of power there is nobility and a desire for the ideal. Of course, this interpretation was seen as unrealistically romantic, but in the operatic tradition. The music of the opera is full of wondrous beauty, refinement, sharp drama, in general, this opera by Verdi is monumental, pathetic, tragic and it is not clear why this opera has such a difficult fate, because Verdi wrote music to it while in a more than mature period of creativity. Description : Opera by Giuseppe Verdi to a French-language libretto by Charles Duverrier and Eugène Scribe based on their play The Duke d'Alb. The plot is based on historical events - the uprising in Sicily in 1282. It premiered at the Grand Opera in Paris on 13 June 1855.
Soon Verdi also created an Italian version to a libretto by Eugenio Caimi, shown for the first time in the Parma Teatro Reggio on December 26, 1855, called Giovanna de Guzmán, now used in Italy the name Sicilian Vespers (Italian: Giovanna de Guzmán). Description Attila is a work that combines Verdi's conquests of the Hernani period (deepening individual characteristics) with powerful choral mass scenes close to Nabucco.
