The erhu consists of a wooden or bamboo case with a snakeskin deck, a long neck on which two strings are stretched, and a bow of horse hair. Erhu is used not only as an accompaniment and ensemble instrument in vocal and instrumental music. Since the 20s of the last century, the erhu is also a solo instrument, many solo works have been created for it. Solo for erhu received a special development in the second half of the last century.
